Liepaja Latvian Society House

In 1934, for the new building of the Liepaja Latvian Society House on Rožu Square, the project of architect Jānis Blauas, who designed the building in the spirit of constructivism and functionalism, was chosen. On 10 August 1934, the foundation stone of the newly built Society House was laid in the presence of Prime Minister Kālis Ulmanis himself.

In 2009, the Liepaja Latvian Society House building was included in the State List of Protected Cultural Monuments.
In 2012 the building of the Society House was modernized within the European Union European Regional Development Fund project “Reconstruction and Energy Efficiency Improvement of Liepaja Cultural Institutions”. The building was insulated and expanded, the Puppet Theatre, the Ballet Hall was enlarged, the basement was brightened and cleaned, and the courtyard area, the Chamber Hall, and other rooms were reconstructed.
